Water customers for the City of Petersburg, and Pike-Gibson Water Corporation, are under boil orders until further notice. The order is due to a large water leak that happened on Sunday.
Both Petersburg and Pike-Gibson Water crews fixed the leak within hours of discovery.. However, the precautionary boil order is still in place for the near future. Water crews remind everyone to boil water for five minutes before using, while the order is in place.
Earlier water restrictions in the Pike-Gibson Water area have been lifted. However, Petersburg Water users are being asked to conserve on water usage for another 24 hours, to let the water supply build back up.
No information has been released yet on what may have caused the leak.
