The Knox County Commissioners heard two requests last night to use land on the old county Poor Farm land for public use. The land is located on Hart Street Road, just east of Vincennes.
The first group making a request is a non-profit group known as the “County Farm Hospice House.” Group leaders Andy and Angie Barmes requested the right to repair and reconstruct the structure into a hospice facility for the community.
The other request was from the Knox County Isaiah 1:17 group. Organization members want to build a facility on the Poor Farm land to help kids who have been displaced from their homes through a removal by Children and Family Services.
The Commissioners heard both proposals without approving the ideas. The issues could be considered for a formal vote at the Commissioners’ next meeting in April. However, at Tuesday’s Commissioners’ session, all three members were in favor of the ideas.
