(Jimmie Johnson to Learn IndyCar Road Courses)

Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will try his hand in an IndyCar on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course next week. Johnson announced on Twitter he will test drive a Chip Ganassi Racing car July 8th. He will go for his record-tying fifth Big Machine 400 win this Sunday in what is presumably his final start at IMS in NASCAR. The Hendrick Motorsports driver was scheduled to test an Arrow McLaren SP IndyCar at Barber Motorsports Park in April, but the test was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

(IU AD Glass to Retire Wtih Honor)

Indiana University Athletic Director Fred Glass is retiring Tuesday after 11 and a half years on the job. On Monday, he received the IU President’s Medal of Excellence from IU President Michael McRobbie. The Medal of Excellence is the highest honor an IU president can bestow, and it came in a surprise appearance via Zoom during a regularly scheduled meeting of senior athletic department staff. Glass is handing over the reins of the department to deputy director Scott Dolson.
