A 15 year-old girl was killed early this morning following a shooting near an intersection in Carlisle.
Mezmariah Wilson of Shelburn was shot in the upper body as part of an argument between two separate groups in the southern Sullivan County town. Indiana State Police called it a “large gathering.” One individual from one of the two groups stepped out and fired several shots, one of which struck Wilson. Wilson was taken first to Sullivan County Community Hospital; she was then airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital where he later died.
The name of the alleged gunman has not been identified. No arrests have been announced at this time, but authorities call it an “ongoing criminal investigation.” Police believe the incident was an isolated one.
