Vincennes City Council members will not discuss the local income tax — or LIT — in the near term. The tax is being considered by the Knox County Council; Council members could talk about the added public safety tax at their October 26th session.
Council president Tim Salters told his fellow Council members the timeline for the City to pass the public safety tax is too tight, and the details too vague, to make a good decision. However, Salters realizes even though the City will not discuss or vote on the tax at this time, it eventually will have to be put into place.
Knox County is one of only a few counties in Indiana who do not have a public safety local option tax in place.
