Knox County Sports Recap for Friday, 5/19

The South Knox Tennis team captured the Vincennes Sectional yesterday, downing the host Lady Alices 4-1.  Posting wins for the 20-0
Lady Spartans were Alli Hayden at number two singles, Grace Arnold at number three singles and the doubles teams of Caroline Beard and
Grace Carie and the number two team of Graceanna Cramer and Anna Provines.  Lincolns only win was at number one singles where
Payton Dugan was a straight set winner which means she qualifies to play in the individual sectional for the third year in a row. South Knox moves
to the Jasper Regional semi-final on Wednesday where they will play Barr-Reeve,

The South Knox Boys Track team finished second at the Princeton Sectional.  Gibson Southern was first with 156 points.  South
Knox had 151.3.  Princeton third at 115 and Lincoln fourth with 76 points North Knox placed ninth with ten points.  Sectional champions
for South Knox were Evan Thompson in the 200-meter Dash and 110-meter Tucker Risley in the Discus and Calvin Crabtree in the 1600-meter run.
 Others advancing to the Regionals include Crabtree in the 3200-meter run, Risley in the shotput, Lane Garner in the 200 and 400 meter dash,
Caleb Cork in the 300-meter Hurdles, Zach Wollard in the 800 meter run, Sam Singleton in the long jump and the 400, 1600 and 3200
meter Relay teams.
Vincennes Lincoln had two sectional champions as Dejuan Gillis captured the high jump and Daniel Nash the shot put.  Also moving on from Lincoln
were Robert Burch in the 100-meter dash, and Jordan Donovan and Collin Cory in the 110 meter High Hurdles,

The South Knox baseball team picked up a pair of Blue-Chip conference wins on Thursday.  In the first game, the Spartans blanked
North Knox 10-0 in six innings.  Kaden McKinney had a two-run homer for South Knox while Tanner Holland had a two-run double and
Jeffery Smith a two-run single.  Will Arnold had a double for North Knox and Kaleb Archer a single.
South Knox beat Shoals in the nightcap 21-2.   Jacob Allen, Kaden McKinney, Dylan Maeder, Justin Siewers, and Gannon Montgomery
all had two hits apiece for the Spartans.
Dugger Union scored five unearned runs and that was enough in beating Vincennes Rivet 5-2.  Curtis Shake had one of the two
Rivet hits and drove in both runs.  Kenadee Frey had the other Patriot hit in the game.
The Lincoln JV Baseball team rolled over Southridge 10-2.  Brady Anderson, Jayden Ray and Tanner Gilbert all had two
hits each for the Alices.
