Knox County Sports for Monday, 5/22

(Softball Sectional preview)
The IHSAA Softball sectionals get underway tonight around the area.  At the Class 2-A Sectional at \
Linton, the 11-12 Miners take on 14-12 Mitchell in the opener at six.   The second game, set for around 7:30,
has 14-9 South Knox playing 26-3 and number four ranked Sullivan.  The Lady Arrows have won 12 straight.
Their last loss was a 4-0 shutout by South Knox on April 22nd.  You can hear the game on WUZR 105.7fm.
North Knox awaits the winner of the Linton/Mitchell match up on Tuesday night.
At the Jasper 3-A Sectional, game one has Washington taking on number seven Pike Central with game two featuring
the host Wildcats playing county rival Southridge.  Vincennes Lincoln will take on the winner of that game on Tuesday night.
At the four team Loogootee sectional, number two ranked Barr-Reeve plays Orleans while the host Lions take on
North Daviess.
At the Forest Park 2-A sectional, Forest Park plays South Spencer and Perry Central meets Mater Dei.
At the Gibson Southern Class 3-A sectional, Princeton plays Bosse and Mt Vernon takes on Boonville.
And at the Class A sectional at Wood Memorial, Northeast Dubois takes on Cannelton.
The Boys Baseball sectionals get underway on Wednesday.
(Tennis– Jasper Regional)
The South Knox Tennis team is preparing for its trip to the Jasper Regional on Tuesday.  The 20-0 Lady Spartans will take on
Barr-Reeve in one semi-final while the other semi has Jasper taking on North Daviess.  The two winners will play for the title on Tuesday.
Also, Vincennes Lincolns Payton Dugan will begin play on an individual basis in the state tournament on Tuesday in Jasper as well.  For Dugan,
it marks the third straight year the Lincoln senior has advanced in the singles play.
(Track– Regional Preview)
Also, several Knox County Track athletes will be competing in Regional action at Evansville Central.  The girls Regional will be on Tuesday while
The boys will compete on Thursday.
(VU Baseball Honors)

Vincennes University sophomores Ethan Burdette, Colton Evans, and Colin Long each picked up some individual honors for this past baseball season.

Burdette was named second team All-Conference, as well as earning a spot on the All-Region 24 team, while Evans earned second team All-Conference

honors for the second year in a row and Colin Long was named to the Region 24 Rawlings Gold Glove team for the second time.
