The Vincennes Rendezvous starts tomorrow– but today, re-enactors are staking their claims on the green space between the French Commons and Clark Memorial. The white tents and colonial-style camping of the various Rondezvous participants is one of the annual highlights of the Memorial Day weekend event.
The space is owned by the George Rogers Clark National Park. G-R-C chief ranger Joe Herron says campers will flood the campsite both today and tomorrow. Herron knows the area between the Commons and the Memorial will be a virtual sea of white tents this weekend.
Many of those campers will be involved in four battle re-enactments to be held both tomorrow and Sunday. Two battle re-enactments will be held each day, with the final one at three-30 Sunday afternoon.
