Municipal and county governments across Indiana are closely eyeing a potential property tax cut bill coming through the Indiana Legislature. If approved, they cuts could have a dramatic effect on funding for individual government units.
One of those watching the bill’s content and progress intently is Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum, Mayor Yochum knows the funding hit could be similar to the adjustments required when the state passed the property tax cap amendment.
Even though the caps are still in place, taxes for most affected properties have increased, due to rising home valuations since the Covid pandemic of 2020.
