Vincennes Council President Taking “Wait and See” Stance on Tax Cut Impact

Even though talks on the 2026 budget are still months away, a major factor for that process is already in place, with the passage of Senate Bill 1. That bill provides various property tax cuts for Hoosier landholders, but will cost some revenue to municipal and other government-funded groups.
City Council president Brian Grove believes the tax cut law, as it now stands, won’t bankrupt the city. However, Grove knows some adjustments may be needed—including changes on the long-debated City trash collection system.

As far as the overall numbers,. Grove says he will take a “wait nd see” attitude toward how much it will affect the City next year, and into the future.
