Monday afternoon, the Knox County Council will hold a hearing concerning a possible wheel tax for County drivers. The State of Indiana is tying that surcharge to preferred future status for Community Crossing Matching Grant funding. The hearing will be held at five p-m Monday in Vincennes City Council’s chambers at City Hall.
Knox County Council president Mike Morris says the session is all about education—both on the public’s end, and on theirs. Morris believes a wheel tax may be put in place—but at a lower amount.
Even with the hearing happening Monday, no timetable is in place on any potential moves toward a County-wide wheel tax.
