Jim Caviezel believes people are hungry for heroes as he gears up to take on his next movie role in “Ghost Soldier.”
Fox News Digital has an exclusive first look at the trailer.
“Ghost Soldier” follows a reclusive former special forces soldier and weapons developer (Caviezel) who is forced back into action when a powerful foreign corporation tries to seize his hometown’s land, according to the trailer. Using his elite training and advanced weaponry, he wages a one-man war to protect his community.
In the action-packed trailer, Caviezel is seen protecting his community, the people within it and the land as he takes on a big corporation.
Caviezel told Fox News Digital that audiences are looking to watch people in roles who represent faith, duty, and personal responsibility.

“People want to see someone do the right thing, with all the odds stacked against them. We saw this phenomenon with ‘Sound of Freedom’. Give them a hero who stands for what’s true and audiences show up. That hunger is still there,” Caviezel said.

He went on to share that he connected with his character, Henry “Fitz” Fitzgerald, right away.
“I connected with Fitz right away because he’s a hero. He’s a Green Beret who serves his country, and he lives by a moral code he won’t break,” he said. “He can’t walk away from an injustice, whatever it costs him. I love a good action film, too. But it was Fitz’s moral compass and his hunger for justice that made me say yes.”
Caviezel has had a history of playing characters willing to make sacrifices for their own convictions — he played Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ” and Tim Ballard in “Sound of Freedom.”

Caviezel told Fox News Digital that taking on these kinds of roles showed him that doing the right thing “usually costs you something.”
“I want to play men who’ll sacrifice for what they believe. That’s the measure of a man, and it’s the story I keep coming back to,” he said.
Caviezel said that over the past few years, Americans have seen a “resurgence” in protecting their home, land and community and this movie speaks directly to that.

“Most people resonate with protecting their home, family and community because we were created with the instinct to protect what we love,” he began. “Over the past few years, we’ve seen ordinary people standing up again, doing the right thing when it’s hard. That’s the resurgence I see, and this film speaks right to it.”
“Ghost Soldier” will be in theaters nationwide on November 6. Alongside Caviezel, the movie also stars Olivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt and Shea Whigham.
