In baseball tournament action:
Vincennes Lincoln’s Brady Anderson came up with a one-hitter, as the Alices advance to the Jasper Sectional semifinals by defeating the host Wildcats 2-0. Anderson struck out eight in the win. The Alices scored in the first and in the seventh to get the victory. Nash Ransom and Tyson Gillis both drove in runs in the game for the Alices.
LHS has now won four of its last five. They now face Gibson Southern in Friday night’s semifinals.
The South Knox Spartans left ten men on base, but did not score any of them, as they lose to Eastern Greene, 3-0 at Linton. The T-Birds’ Chaz Perry struck out ten, and the Eastern offense got timely runs in the first and fifth to get the win.
Brody West pitched well for South Knox, with a complete game four hitter. Eastenr will now face West Vigo on Monday morning in the semifinal.
It was a similar story for Rivet, as they stranded runners in scoring position, and lose to the Loogootee Lions 4-2 in the Loogootee Sectional. The Lions scored two in the sixth to break open a 1-1 tie en route to the win. Leroy Brown led the Patriot offensive attack with 3 hits. Rivet’s Jayden Thacker takes the loss, despite giving up only four hits over six innings.
This evening, the North Knox Warriors face the Linton Miners in baseball sectional action at Linton. First pitch is at five-30; hear the game on 105.7, WUZR.
In tennis:
The South Knox Spartans lose in the regional final to Jasper, 4-1 in the Jsper Tennis Regional. Reagan Harrington won the lone match for the Lady Spartans, defeating her opponent in straight sets. The defeat was the only Lady Spartan loss on the year; they end the season at 20-1.
