Wet Spring Leads to High Rainfall Totals

A wet spring led to high rainfall totals across the area—and especially in northern Knox County.

An unofficial tally near Bicknell showed one location receiving an area-topping 22.79 inches of rain from March first to May 31st.  A few miles east, along the White River in Daviess County, the total was at 22 inches.

Rainfall rates were lower to the south and west, with a Lawrence County location reporting 17 inches of rainfall.  At Petersburg, the total was just over 15 and a half inches.

Regardless of location, the rain amounts made this spring among the wettest in this area’s history.
