Knox County is reviewing three companies for a planning grant as part of the federal Safe Streets for All program. County officials will review bids next month from Loughmueller Group, United Consulting, and Kaskaskia Consulting.
The Safe Streets grant will provide assistance for targeted road improvement. Knox County Commissioner T-J Brink gives his preference for the work as stretching from Willow Street down Old Decker Road toward the 41 Industrial Park. However, Brink admits that isn’t the only possible place for the Safe Streets grant to be used.
The planning grant will be awarded sometime next month. If all goes to plan, the actual location, and related improvements, would be considered by the end of the year.
