A series of severe storms and tornadoes left damage and power outages across Southwest Indiana last night.  Two different sets of supercells affected the area, with the first hitting north and west of Vincennes, with the second one affecting Vincennes and to the south.  The scariest part of the storm was a rotating supercell that affected the Fort Branch area, and passed near the Toyota Indiana plant south of Princeton.  The Toyota plant itself was not hit, but the Blythe Chapel church near Owensville was destroyed.  Damage was also reported in southern Gibson County near Mackey, and in both Chandler and Newburgh in Warrick County.

Duke Energy reported nearly 2,000 people without power for a time near Sullivan.  In Knox County, power went out to around 100 people in Vincennes, and nearly 30 in Bicknell.  WIN Energy also reported Knox County outages, with over 250 out from near Bruceville to Edwardsport, and around 100 out at Wheatland.  Among the largest outages was over a thousand WIN Energy customers without power in northern Sullivan County.

The largest outages are in Gibson County, with nearly 900 without power this morning near Owensville.  Thirteen hundred more have power out  in an area covering southeast Gibson County, southern Pike County, and extreme northern Warrick County.

Electric crews are working now to restore power to all those affected.
