The Knox County Council is about two and a half months away from working on budget numbers for next year. This will be the first upcoming budget to figure in a set of property tax cuts approved by the State of Indiana.
Council president Mike Morris says even now—well ahead of time—they are looking into budget issues that are on the horizon. Morris notes Council members are getting professional financial help to navigate some rocky financial terrain caused by the State’s tax cuts.
The tax cuts were approved in 2025, with the actual revenue decease expected for the 2026 tax year, payable in 2027.
