Administrative Error Erases Joe Yochum as State Senate District 39 Nominee

Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum will not be allowed to run in the November general election for State Senate, District 39.
In a n official release, Yochum cited a procedural error from the Indiana Democrat Party will keep him from appearing on the general ballot in November.  Mayor Yochum was told about the decision yesterday.  The error was in the failure to file proper paperwork within three days of the caucus naming him as the replacement for the former Distict 39 Democrat nominee.  The move means now that Republican candidate Jeff Ellington will not face another major party candidate in the November election.  Ellington is slated to replace outgoing Washington State Senator Eric Bassler.
Yochum expresses “deep disappointment” over the decision.  He pointed to the last few weeks of reaching out across the district, and that his regret at not representing the people he “deeply loves” across southwest Indiana.
Despite the setback, Yochum promises to continue his service as part of his fourth term as Mayor of Vincennes.
