The Knox County Commissioners have made final approval for conversion of two non-residential areas to potential residential land. The approved areas include room in the 71-hundred block of Russell Drive near Bicknell, and in the 24-hundred block of Old Decker Road. Both were forwarded favorably from the Knox County Area Plan Commission.
The Commissioners will consider a third residential rezoning at its session on September first. That one was unfavorably recommended by the County A-P-C on a seven-one vote. In discussion before the Commissioners, it was stated the problems stemmed from some of the housing tract sizes being too small.
Lot developers told the Commissioners they are willing to resize the lots to meet the needed standard. Further, Knox County Indiana Economic Development director Chris Pfaff called the residential rezoning needed to help build up housing in Knox County. The potential resizing of the lots will be considered with the consultation of Area Plan Commission director Colt Michaels.
