INDOT reminds Hoosiers to keep campaign and advertising signs outside state rights-of-way.
State law prohibits signs on state-owned or maintained property year-round.
This includes intersections, interchanges, medians, shoulders, and roadside areas parallel to highways.
If unmarked, estimate the boundary at a fence line, the back of a ditch, or behind utility poles.
Crews may remove signs during maintenance or immediately if they block sight lines or pose a safety risk.
Removed signs go to the nearest INDOT facility and may be claimed during business hours.
