The Vincennes City Council will meet tonight to finalize the funding for the 2027 City budget. Vincennes city officials have reviewed places to cut around two million dollars from the current proposal. The latest proposal shows a 23.7 million dollar expected adoption. The largest fund is just over 9.8 million dollars in the City’s General fund. Vincennes City Council president Brian Grove knows caution is the byword for this year’s budget—and for future years as well. At this time, all City services are covered by the 2027 budget. However, Grove says Council’s donations to various events will likely be cut for eliminated.
The advertised tax rate for this year’s budget would be over 3 dollars and 33 cents per 100 dollars in assessed property value. That number can be adjusted downward after state officials do their mandatory budget review later this year.
