Drunk Driving Enforcement Continues Across Area

By Tom Zimmerman Oct 21, 2026 | 5:00 AM

Law enforcement across the area continues its watch for various traffic violations across the area.  That includes seat belt and school bus stop arm breaches, along with drunk or impaired driving. The impaired driving issue came to light on Sunday, after a nine year-old boy died after an alleged impaired driving accident in southern Daviess County.

Knox County Sheriff’s Department chief deputy John Fuller reminds everyone there are no warnings when you are caught driving under the influence.

One issue emphasized by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department is underage drinking.  Fuller says for the most part, especially this last summer, the kids have been getting the message.

The normal law enforcement patrols are also enhanced at different times of the year by overtime blitzes. Those are usually held each year around major holidays, when more traffic is on the roads.
