In this area, both the 45th and 64th District Indiana House races have contested battles this year. In the 45th District, there will be a new State Rep, as Kellie Streeter faces Becky Mayfield. Streeter defeated incumbent Bruce Borders in the spring primary election.
If elected, Streeter wants to represent those she feels don’t have a lot of say in Indianapolis. Mayfield wants to represent another group without many opinions at the Statehouse— Democrats.
Mayfield also wants to bring her background as a civics educator to Indianapolis if she wins the election.
In the 64th district race, incumbent Matt Hostetler will face the challenge of Candace Green today. In State Senate races, Jeff Ellington will run unopposed in the 39th district. Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum was originally set to oppose him, but his name was not approved for the ballot, due to a technicality. In State Senate District 48, incumbent Darryl Schmitt will face Brad Hochgesamg.
