An exhibition featuring ceramic works by Malcolm Mubotu Smith will open November 13 at Vincennes University’s Shircliff Gallery of Art. The exhibition will run through December 7. An artist talk and reception will take place in the Gallery on November 29 at 11 a.m. (EST), followed by a ceramics workshop in the Ceramic Studio from 2-5 p.m.

Smith’s work is guided by improvisations that merge volumetric form with graphic flatness. His clay work is inspired by the intersections of graffiti art, comic books, and playful, organic abstraction driven by his passion for hip-hop and jazz.

The Shircliff Gallery of Art is located in Room A103 of the Shircliff Humanities Center at the corner of First and Harrison streets on the VU campus. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 12-4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
