A group of downtown merchants appeared before Vincennes City Council to oppose the current location of the proposed Firehouse Flats location. The merchants believe the loss of the parking lot near Vigo Street between Third and Fourth Streets would lead to a loss of businesses on Main Street.
In response, Council president Brian Grove says nothing has been signed and finalized for presentation. He also responded to the allegations by saying no abatements have been requested yet, He also believes even with the possible Firehouse Flats development, the affected lot itself would be available during peak daytime hours.
Council members further requested one member of the opposing coalition to join them in the ongoing discussion.
