The City of Vicnennes is readying itself for the first festival season under the DORA—or Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area. The Vincennes downtown DORA came into place with action by Vincennes City Council last night.
The new ordinance allows carriage of alcoholic beverages in specially marked cups across the downtown area. Council president Brian Grove says the new ordinance will be a big help to downtown event organizer Ellen Harper. That opposition was from Councilmen Ryan Lough in Ed Gornall, who voted against it in a 5-2 decision. Grove says now that the DORA is in place, Harper can use that to attract people to summertime events downtown.
The only allowed alcohol containers are those is specially-marked cups. All other alcohol carriage ordinances and statutes remain in place.
