The ACLU of Indiana is suing a top investigator from the Attorney General’s office, alleging he threatened a Monroe County man for his political posts.
The lawsuit claims the investigator showed up at Lee Lawmaster’s home, warning him he could be ‘indicted’ for posting the term ’86’ on several elected officials’ Facebook pages.
The ACLU argues the posts were protected speech intended to mean ‘remove from office,’ not a threat of violence.
They’re calling the visit an act of government intimidation that violates the First Amendment.
