UWKC Considering Rent Assistance As a Homelessness Answer

By Tom Zimmerman Jun 30, 2026 | 5:00 AM

The United Way of Knox County is planning a new endeavor to help families transition from homelessness to having their own place.  U-W-K-C director Scott Charleston believes rental assistance can fulfill his dream of reaching one person—or family unit– in need at a time.

The next major chance to give to the United Way is about a month away, with the kickoff of their annual fund-raising campaign.  That kickoff is set for late July again this year.
