Albert Lee Bement Jr., age 63, of Oaktown, Indiana, passed away on July 2, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1962, in Linton, Indiana, and lived a life marked by hard work and devotion to his family.
Albert served his country in the United States Army, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. Following his military service, he worked for Clyde’s Pools and later for Perdue, and he also worked as a welder. Through every job he held, he was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and willingness to do what needed to be done. He took pride in providing for those he loved and in earning the respect of those who worked alongside him.
On June 7, 2002, he married his wife, Doris “Joyce” Bement, and together they shared many years of love and companionship. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by the people he loved most.
Albert loved deer hunting and fishing, and he found peace in the outdoors. He also enjoyed CB radio and the companionship it brought, and he especially loved spending time with his grandkids. His family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in each of their lives and accomplishments. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bicknell and the French Club, where he valued friendship, faith, and community.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; his children, Jeremy Bement (Holly), Crystal Parrish (Robert), Olivia Bement (DJ), Samuel Lashbrook (Autumn), Thomas Lashbrook, and Rayna Lashbrook; his 19 grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren and one on the way; his mother, Pauline “Mengedoht” Bush; and his siblings, Gary Reed (Debbie), Georgia Riddle (Gene), and Chris Bement. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Lee Bement Sr., and his siblings, Stephen Reed, Paul Reed, Roger Reed, Ralph Reed, Jennifer Overmyer, Kenneth Ray Spurlin, and Alan Bement.
Albert will be remembered for his kind heart, his quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the example he set will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew and loved him.
There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Bicknell, Indiana. A service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor John McKinnon. Burial will conclude at Stafford Cemetery in Sandborn, Indiana.
