Plans are coming into place to move the annual Vincennes Fourth of July fireworks to the fall, along with an Autumn on Main event. The original fireworks display was postponed, due to the death of Saint Francisville fireman Bob Johnson. Johnson had died the day before– on Friday, August third, while shooting off another set of municipal fireworks in Lawrenceville. He was also scheduled to oversee the Vincennes display that next night.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum is looking at a September to October time frame for those events. Mayor Yochum would also like to see some added events around that event and display.
As part of the display, City officials want to honor Johnson, and invite the St. Francisville Fire Department to join in the tribute.
