Edward Gerald Marando, age 87, of Vincennes, Indiana, passed away on July 19, 2026. He was born on October 29, 1938, in Washington, D.C., and lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and service.
After school, Edward served in the U.S. Air Force, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and patriotism. Following his military service, he worked as an aircraft mechanic for Travis Air Force Base for 35 years, where he was known for his skill and reliability. He retired from that position in 1994, and later continued working in security for Walt Disney World in Orlando until his retirement in 2012.
On August 4, 1984, he married Jeanne “Susie” (Lambiotte) Marando, and together they shared many years of companionship, love, and family life. Edward was a devoted husband and a proud father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Susie Marando; his son, Anthony Marando of Orlando, Florida; his step-children, Patrick Jackson of Des Moines, Washington, Mike Jackson (Kristen) of San Diego, California, and Jay Jackson of Des Moines, Washington; his three grandchildren, Mariah Jackson of Redmond, Washington, Connor Jackson of San Diego, California, and Riley Jackson of San Diego, California; his half-siblings, Mike Marando of Palatine, Illinois, James Marando of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Mark Marando of Bartlett, Illinois, and Patricia Novonty of Crystal Lake, Illinois; his brother and sister-in-law, John Hewitt and Hillary Hewitt of LaVergne, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Mary E. “Peary” Marando. Their memory remained an important part of his life, and he carried forward the values they instilled in him throughout his years.
He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and took great pride in woodworking and building. He loved to travel and was fortunate to see many places, including Italy, Alaska, California, Seattle, and many more destinations with lasting memories. He also enjoyed root beer and, above all, treasured time with his family. Edward was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and was honored to be a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He also gave his time as a volunteer for the Indiana Military Museum, reflecting his appreciation for history and service.
Edward Gerald Marando will be remembered as a kind, hardworking, and faithful man whose life touched many others. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the work he performed with dedication, and the many friendships and memories he leaves behind.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Christian Educational Foundation.
