Bridge Facade Work Continues in Downtown Vincennes

By Tom Zimmerman Jul 31, 2026 | 5:00 AM

Work continues on re-placing the stones on the façade of the Memorial Bridge in downtown Vincennes.  The cleaning and restoration work kicked into high gear earlier this year, as part of that landmark’s renovation.

G-R-C chief ranger Joe Herron reminds everyone the stones will not be pristine when they are put back in place, but they will be a lot better.  Herron says that is due to the condition they were in when they were removed from the façade in the first place.

The bridge itself may be affected by the work sometime in the winter months. At this point though, the Memorial Bridge is still open for traffic moving across the Wabash River.
