In Volleyball:
The Vincennes Lincoln Alices stormed back from a 2-0 decficit to defeat the Linton Miners 3-2. The Lady Miners took the first two sets 25-22 and 25-14, before the Lady Alices won set 3, 25-22. In overtime, L-H-S won set 4 26-24, before taking the decider 15-9.
The Lady Alices go to 2-0 on the year, while Linton slips to 0-2.
The South Knox Lady Spartans lost their opener, as they fall to Sullivan in four sets. Sullivan won the first two, 25-22 and 25-20, before South Knox won Set 3, 25-22. The Lady Arrows then took Set 4 and the match, 25-20.
In soccer:
Rivet defeated North Knox 6-0 at Saint Vincent Field. Bridget Stine led the Lady Patriots with three goals in the match. Sisters Leela and Amy Gilmore scired ibe each, and assisted on each other’s scores.
In golf:
South Knox lost to Linton by eight shots, 202 to 210. Clair Shepard was low scorer for the Lady Spartans, with a 43.
In tennis:
Vincennes Lincoln got the better of Linton, 5-0. Winners included Carter Johnson, Bronx Carter, and Luke Clark in singles, and the doubles teams of Conner Hahn and Brady Allen, and Bennett Kirwer and Jaxson Newton.
In Cross Country:
North Knox’s girls took three of the top five spots in a four-team victory over Shoals, Loogootee, and Dugger Union. Emma Telligman won the meet, with Broston Fleenor third,, and Eva Claycomb fifth.
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers announced Monday they signed former Purdue University star Braden Smith to a two-way contract with the team. The Pacers traded for Smith last month during Night 2 of the NBA Draft after he was selected 38th overall by the Chicago Bulls. Smith average 6.8 points, 7.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds in five appearances with Indiana during the NBA Summer League this year.
