Swollen Rivers to Affect Area for Next Week

By Tom Zimmerman Aug 18, 2026 | 5:00 AM
Even though the weather is turning drier and more seasonable this week, flood waters from northern and eastern Indiana are heading this way.  Those waters from many areas that saw extreme flooding through last weekend are on their way downriver.
Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum reminds everyone if flooding like that happened there, it can happen here too.
Mayor Yochum knows both rivers affecting Knox County will start swelling this week.
The White River will see the biggest flooding, with crests in the moderate flood level, between five and six feet over flood stage.  Both rivers will continue rising through the next week, and are forecast to top about a week from now.  Thise in low-lying areas near the rivers are reminded to watch out for flooded roads from the rising waters.
