Knox County Sports Roundup for Friday

Home openers are on the calendar for both Knox County football teams tonight.

The Vincennes Lincoln Alices start tonight with a non-conference game at Inman Field against the Terre Haute South Braves.  Kickoff time is 7 pm; you can hear the game on 92.1, WZDM.

The North Knox Warriors also open at home tonight, as they face Sullivan. The Warriors and Arrows will also kick off at seven tonight; that game is on 105.7, the Ride and wuzr.com.  Both games will also be live streamed at tocsportsnetwork.com.

In volleyball:

The North Knox Warriors lose in three sets to Washington, 22-25, 22=25, and 16-25.  Kendal McGuireled for the Lady Warriors with five kills, while Jersey Sturgeon added five points.  The North Knox JV was a two-set winner over Washington.

 

The Rivet Patriots defeated Wood Memorial in four games. The Lady Trojans took Set 1, 25-21, before Rivet won the next three– 25-20, 25-18, and 26-24.  Addison Fuller had 38 digs, while Rachel Jacqumain tallied 15 blocks, and Jocelyn Thacker had seven kills.

In soccer:

The South Knox Spartans and Princeton Tigers tied 1-1 last night.  With 18 minutes left, Princeton took a 1-0 lead, only for Colin Ellerman to fie it a short time later.  The Spartans are 1-0-1 on the year.

The Barr-Reeve Lady Vikings scored five goals in the second h alf to defeat North Knox 8-1.The Lady Warriors slip to 0-2 on the year.

In tennis:

South Knox defeats Rivet 4=1.  South Knox winners were Reid Hall, Layne Hayes, and Austin Reed in singles, and the doubles team of Ethan Cook and Owen Robinson.  Rivet’s lone winner was the doubles team of Max Weiss and Miles Holka.

 

Vincennes Lincoln defeated Southrige in tennis 5-0. Winners were Carter Johnson, Bronx Carter, and Luke Clark and the doubles teams of Conner Hahn and Brady Allen, and Jaxon Newton and Bennett Kirwer.

In Middle School sports:

The Rivet Middle School volleyballers faced Sullivan. The 7th grade won in two sets, 25=17 and 25-18, while the 8th grade were defeated, 14-25 and 17-25.
