Vincennes City Council Passes Firehouse Flats EDA on 4-2 Vote

By Tom Zimmerman Aug 25, 2026 | 5:00 AM

The Vincennes City Council has approved an economic development agreement—or EDA—on a proposed Firehouse Flats Subdivision.  The vote was approved 4-2, with Ryan Lough and Richard Ashby voting against the resolution.

The Firehouse Flats plan is being forwarded by developer John Anderson. Anderson says if completed, the complex will add a good number of units to downtown Vincennes.  After the approval, Council president Brian Grove reminds everyone there are still several steps left to go before the project would be a reality.

The project would be on the municipal parking lot parallel to Vigo Street between Third and Fourth Streets.  Some downtown merchants were worried about parking displacement, but those in favor believe those problems can be worked out.
