Around Knox County:
In Soccer:
The South Knox Spartans led 4-0 at halftime, and cruised on to a 4-1 victory over Vincennes Rivet at home. The match had been set for play yesterday afternoon at Rivet, but excessive heat caused a move to an evening game at South Knox.
The Spartans move to 2-1-2 with the win, while Rivet is 3-2 on the year.
In Volleyball:
Vincennes Lincoln moves to 12-1 on the year with a four set victory over Washington. The Lady Alices took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20, before the Lady Hatchets took set 3, 25-20. Vincennes Lincoln then won set 4 and the match, 25-16.
The Lady Hatchets slip to 7-4 on the year.
South Knox defeats Vincennes Rivet in three sets, 25-22, 25-18, and 25-19. Janet West led wih seven kills, while Matalie West had six kills. Brooklyn Flanigam had a double double with ten digs and eleven assists.
The North Knox volleyball team lost to Evansville Christian in three sets. The Lady Eagles took the match 25-14, 25-9, and 25-10. Hanley Coats had seven service points, while Katie Wolfe scored three kills.
In tennis:
South Knox defeated Bloomfield 4-1. Winners included Reid Hall, Layne Hays, and Austin Laue in singles, and the doubles team of Cooper Neal and Ethan Cork. The Spartan tennis team moves to 9-2 on the year.
In middle school sports:
The Clark Middle School soccer team defeated Princeton 9-1. Kelan Stein led the C-M-S attack with three goals. Sammy Ubaldo and Kellan Hartman added two goals apiece.
