Marilyn Jane Myers Dearmin passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born on January 30, 1931, in Washington, Indiana, to Flavian E. Myers and Priscilla Young Myers.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her four siblings, Jay Myers, Janet Myers Heiney, Flavian Myers, Jr., and Mary Myers Baker.
She is survived by her two children, John Dearmin (Dee) of Odon, Indiana, and Priscilla Dearmin Turner (Tim) of Westfield, Indiana. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Ben Curtis of Santa Barbara, California; Ellen VanderMissen (Josh) of Westfield, Indiana; Mary Dearmin (Eric) of Canton, Michigan; Christina Dearmin of Waco, Texas; and Katherine Dearmin of Phoenix, Arizona. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
Marilyn grew up in Washington, Indiana, attending Sugarland Grade School and graduating from Washington High School. After high school, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she made many wonderful and lasting friendships. She remained in touch with many of her Stephens friends throughout the years.
She later attended Indiana University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and the IU synchronized swimming team. She was also a longtime member of the IU Varsity Club, an organization she remained connected to for many years. In 1952, Marilyn was crowned Indiana University’s Homecoming Queen-the only married woman to hold that distinction. She married Joe M. Dearmin in July 1952.
Following their marriage, Marilyn and Joe moved to Newport, Rhode Island, where Joe completed Officer Training for the United States Navy. They later moved to Key West, Florida, before returning to Odon in 1955.
She worked for several years in the family business, Dearmin and Co., and later served as a Senior Vice President at The First National Bank of Odon.
Marilyn continued her education and completed her degree in Home Economics from Indiana University before eventually moving to Noblesville.
In 1989, Marilyn moved to Noblesville, Indiana, where she became a Trust Officer at National City Bank. She embraced her new community and continued to find many ways to share her talents and interests with others.
Marilyn loved to play golf and enjoyed the friendships and fellowship that came with the game. She also loved to snow ski, a passion she shared with her wonderful friend, Barbie. These adventures and friendships brought her many happy memories throughout her life.
Marilyn was deeply dedicated to The Belfry Theatre. A magnificent seamstress, she generously shared her considerable talent by helping costume many of the theater’s plays. She took great pride in being part of the theater community and loved the creativity and camaraderie that came with it.
She was also very active in the choir at First United Methodist Church of Noblesville, where she shared her love of music and her commitment to her church and community.
But Marilyn’s greatest devotion was to her family. She was deeply dedicated to her children and grandchildren and treasured her role as a mother and grandmother. Her family was at the heart of her life, and she took great pride in each of them.
Marilyn will be remembered for her warmth, grace, generosity, creativity, and unwavering devotion to the people she loved. She lived a remarkable 95 years filled with family, friendship, service, music, travel, golf, skiing, and countless cherished memories.
She will be deeply missed. We are all very thankful that Marilyn was part of our lives, and we are all better people because she was. Her love, kindness, and example will remain with us and continue through the generations of her family.
